Course description

HeartCode® ACLS Online is a self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program that uses adaptive learning technology to allow learners to acquire and demonstrate Advanced Cardiac Life Support skills using a personalized learning path that adapts in real time to a learner’s performance. The program is designed for healthcare professionals who need Advanced Cardiac Life Support training for their clinical duties.

Utilizing a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, Cognitive Assessment Activities, illustrations, knowledge checks and interactive activities, this program teaches ACLS knowledge and skills. This method of learning provides training consistency and adaptability to different learning styles. Participants can work at their own pace applying their knowledge to real-time decision making. Debriefings and coaching are provided immediately after each knowledge check and each Cognitive Assessment Activity. HeartCode® 2025 ACLS Online consists of a cognitive portion that is completed online. A separate psychomotor skills assessment using voice assisted manikins with real-time audio and visual feedback is required to earn a valid AHA ACLS Provider eCard.

This course is designed for health-care professionals who direct or manage cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies; personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units; physicians, nurses, and paramedics; and others who need an ACLS course completion card for their job. This course is for renewal and initial ACLS certification.

Course materials and features of the Heartcode Program

This format will allow for more flexibility in staff scheduling and attending skills check sessions with daily availability, Monday through Friday, to complete the hands-on session.

Prior to the course, participants must complete the HeartCode® ACLS online module. The HeartCode® module will be assigned to course participants weekly on Thursday. E-mail from RQI Partners and RQI1Stop (donotreply@rqi1stop.com). Please add this e-mail address to your contact list to ensure you receive this message. UC Davis Health personnel will receive their AHA online module on their UC Davis e-mail account per hospital policy. Note: this module can only be used with the RQI Cart and cannot be used for the Quarterly Instructor-Led Skills Sessions.

Participants must successfully complete:

  • The online portion.
  • A hands-on skills practice and test session using a voice-assisted manikin.
  • AHA ecard will be immediately issued in user account upon successful completion of the above.
