HeartCode ACLS is the AHA’s blended learning online module for the AHA’s ACLS Course. HeartCode blended learning delivers quality resuscitation education regardless of where providers are located and gives them more control to complete the course at their own pace. Providers first complete the online portion of HeartCode ACLS and then complete a hands-on skills session with an AHA ACLS Instructor.

This course has been updated with new science from the 2020 Guidelines for CPR and ECC and replaces the previous version (2015).

This course is designed for healthcare professionals who direct or manage cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies; personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units; physicians, nurses, and paramedics; and others who need an ACLS course completion card for their job.

The 2020 guidelines version of HeartCode is different than the 2015 guidelines version
The 2020 Guidelines HeartCode uses a personalized adaptive algorithm. Students follow a continuously adapting learning path that is personalized by their own inputs: their performance, and their self- reported confidence level related to each probing question.

ACLS certification in 3 easy steps

1. Complete the blended learning online module.
2. Complete the skills practice and testing session at CPPN with an AHA ACLS Instructor.
3. Receive an official AHA ACLS Provider electronic course completion card (ecard).

This course is for renewal and initial ACLS certification.

Prior to the course, participants must complete the HeartCode ACLS online module. The HeartCode module will be assigned to course participants 30 days prior to the class date via e-mail from elearning.help@heart.org. Please add this e-mail address to your contact list to ensure you receive this message. UC Davis Health personnel will receive their AHA online module on their UC Davis e-mail account per hospital policy. Features include:

• Self-paced and accessible 24 hours a day.
• Pre-course self-assessment to gauge students’ knowledge and application of ECG recognition and pharmacology.
• Exam to test cognitive knowledge; program immediately identifies incorrect answers and provides a hyperlink to the appropriate section of the Provider Manual for instant remediation.
• Online access to the Provider Manual.
• Provides access to all information in the course for 2 years following activation of course key.
• Note: this module can only be used for Instructor-Led Skills Sessions and cannot be used for the Heartcode® RQI Cart.

Staff may also access the online provider manual without a login from the campus network. Staff who are off campus may use VPN or Citrix.

• Completion of the pre-test with a passing score of 70%
• Certificate of completion of the ACLS HeartCode online module

When attending the practice and skills testing session, participants must bring their certificate of completion for the HeartCode ACLS to the course. Participants will not be allowed to complete the skills portion without the certificate.

Be courteous and on time. Students are expected to attend and participate in the entire course. Participants will not be allowed to attend the session if they are more than 5 minutes late. Late participants are considered a no show and any deposit or fee will be forfeited.

Wear loose, comfortable clothing or scrubs. You will be practicing skills that require working on your hands, bending, standing, and lifting. If you have physical conditions that might prevent you from participating in the course, please notify us prior to the course. The instructor will work to accommodate your needs within the stated course completion requirements.

Upon successful completion of the online course, participants will receive up to 2.0 contact hours from the AHA.

Registrations are confirmed only if deposit or fee is provided with registration form. Registration includes an online key code for the module, skills practice and test session. Registration deposit/fee is inclusive of the online HeartCode module and skills check session. This is a flat rate and there is no cost breakdown for individual components of the course.

$210 registration fee.

Employees for whom the training is mandatory must provide a deposit to confirm their registration. The employee’s department will be recharged the course fee. Upon completion of the course, the employee’s deposit will be returned.

Employees for whom the training is not mandatory must pay the course fee at the time of registration.

Community registrants, students and faculty

$290 registration fee for community nurse, EMT/P, physician or other health-care provider.

$232 registration fee for students and faculty. Students and faculty must register with their campus e-mail address and bring their student/faculty ID to the class.

Registration will close 7 days prior to the course date and all pending registrations requests will be cancelled. Walk-ins on the day of the class will not be accepted.

Cancellation must be requested fourteen days prior to the class date and online course not accessed to receive a full refund. The full registration fee will be forfeited if the online course was accessed. Note that the online course is not interchangeable with the RQI Cart online module. Course completion requires an instructor-led skills check, which is offered quarterly at UC Davis. If the provider cancels the course, participants will be rescheduled, or a full refund will be provided.

Online module is not interchangeable

The Quarterly Blended Instructor-Led Skills Session online module is not interchangeable with the RQI Cart online module. Once either online module is accessed, it is not refundable. The online module accessed for the Quarterly Blended Instructor-Led skills session can only be used for an Instructor-Led session.

Consistent with UC Davis policy, faculty are expected to disclose:

1. Any significant financial interests or other relationships with manufacturers of commercial products and/or providers of commercial services discussed in their presentations.
2. Any "off-label" uses for pharmaceutical and medical device products discussed in their presentations.

The intent of this disclosure is not to prevent speakers with significant financial or other relationships from making presentations, but rather to provide listeners with information on which they can make their own judgments. A complete faculty disclosure statement and acknowledgment of commercial support for this program will be included in the syllabus provided at the activity.

The AHA strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA.  Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.
