Course description
The 4-hour blended (independent pre-work and in-person live sessions) course is for mentor training and development. The course is intended for nurses with at least 1 year of experience interested in developing their knowledge, skills, and practice in mentoring. The course will provide key concepts for differentiating mentor and mentee roles, responsibilities, and qualities; examine theories related to mentoring; and discuss strategies to support mentee growth, development, goal achievement, and success. Participants must complete all class activities and attend the in-person workshop to receive continuing education (CE) credit.
Target audience
This course is restricted to UC Davis Health RNs.
Virtual session requirements and preparation
This class is a blend of synchronous in-person and asynchronous virtual class sessions. The asynchronous virtual session includes independent time (1.5 hours) to review and complete the required materials and assignments prior to attending the in-person session. Once registered, instructions will be sent on how to complete the pre-work module. Independent pre-work must be completed within 30 days prior to in-person class.
The synchronous class session will be held during the in-person session (2.5 hours) where learners will engage in group learning activities. Please bring a copy of your certificate of completion of the pre-work module with you to class.
C.E. contact hours
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 4.0 contact hours.
The UC Davis Health Center for Professional Practice of Nursing is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Attendees will not receive C.E. credit if they are more than 5 minutes late; no partial credit can be awarded.

$25 registration deposit. Registration deposit is returned upon completion of class. Cancellation must be requested five days prior to class date to receive deposit refund. Please register through UC Learning Center and call our office at 916-734-9790 with your deposit by credit card.
Registrations are approved only after your deposit is provided.
Community registrants
This class is only open to UC Davis Health employees.
Parking
Parking is available in parking structure 4, lots 12, 17, 18, 25, Broadway or EDD with either a B permit or daily permit. Daily permits are available for purchase with the ParkMobile app using zone number 42201. Please visit Parking and Transportation Services for more information.
