Managing Diabetes with Insulin in the Acute Care Setting

Course description
This course will provide nurses with current knowledge and strategies for using insulin in the management of patients with diabetes. The course will review the pathophysiology of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and discuss the importance of managing blood glucose levels in the hospitalized patient. Initiating insulin therapy, adjusting insulin (basal, nutritional, correction), carbohydrate counting and insulin sensitivity will be covered. Case studies regarding initiating insulin therapy, adjusting insulin therapy and initiating and titrating IV insulin utilizing hospital insulin protocols will be discussed.
Virtual session requirements
Follow the virtual participation guidelines, including being on camera, engaging in activities, and attesting to participation.
C.E. contact hours
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 6.83 contact hours.
Attendees will not receive C.E. credit if they are more than 20 minutes late; no partial credit can be awarded.

$25 registration deposit. Registration deposit is returned upon completion of class. Cancellation must be requested five days prior to class date to receive deposit refund. Please register through UC Learning Center and call our office at 916-734-9790 with your deposit by credit card.
Registrations are approved only after your deposit is provided.
