Course description
This course provides a foundation for the assessment and nursing management associated with caring for neonates with cardiac conditions. Fetal circulation and transition to extrauterine life will be reviewed. Assessment of cardiovascular status, including blood pressure and EKG monitoring, will be presented. The learner will enhance their knowledge of cyanotic and acyanotic heart defects in infants. Specific cardiac defects will be reviewed: coarctation of the aorta, hypoplastic left heart syndrome, tetralogy of fallot, transposition of the great vessels, total anomalous pulmonary venous return, pulmonary stenosis and patent ductus arteriosus.
C.E. contact hours
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 5.83 contact hours.
Attendees will not receive C.E. credit if they are more than 20 minutes late; no partial credit can be awarded.

Parking
Employee parking is available in parking structure 4, lots 12, 17 and 18 with either a B permit or daily permit.
