Each health-care team member - nurses, physicians, therapists, and assistants - must know what to do for the sick infant. Their care must be provided in a timely, efficient, anticipatory, and effective manner. This early transitional care affects not only the immediate health of the infant but also the infant’s long-term outcome.
The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood pressure, Lab work, and Emotional support,) was developed to meet the educational needs of healthcare providers who must deliver this important stabilization care. S.T.A.B.L.E. education is critical to the mission to reduce infant mortality and morbidity and to improve the future health of children and their families.
This is a blended learning course with two parts. Part 1 consists of a self-paced online module that will take approximately 2.25 hours to complete. Part 2 consists of the 8-hour in-person S.T.A.B.L.E. course. Together, Part 1 and Part 2 will take 10.25 hours to complete.
To attend this course, participants must have The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program Learner Manual, 7th edition. The learner manual is not available through CPPN; it may be purchased through Amazon or stableprogram.org.
The S.T.A.B.L.E. Foundations module is required for every student who enrolls in S.T.A.B.L.E. Participants must complete the module before attending the class. This module takes approximately 2.25 hours to complete. The S.T.A.B.L.E. Foundations module is an introduction to the 7th Edition Learner Course. This four-part course includes Factors that Impact Fetal Health, Intrapartum Risk Factors, Impaired O2 Delivery to the Fetus, and Neonatal Conditions.
This module will be assigned to employees upon registration via UC Learning Center. Community participants may purchase and complete the S.T.A.B.L.E. Foundations pre-coursework module through CME Courses by HealthStream.
When the online module is complete, participants will attend an in-person class. Participants must bring their STABLE Foundations eCard issued by HealthStream that shows the certification ID number to class. Participants must also bring a calculator to class.
