This course is designed to provide information for registered nurses who care for patients that are receiving advanced intravenous therapy. Topics related to advanced line therapy will be discussed inclusive of organizational policies and procedures, indications for venous access, peripheral intravenous lines as well as tunneled and non-tunneled venous access. Nursing management, preventing, and identifying common complications, troubleshooting problems, and providing hands-on experience with selected venous access devices will be included.
This is a blended learning course that consists of two parts. Part 1 consists of an online module that will take approximately 4.9 hours to complete. Part 2 is the in-person skills session that is 2.75 hours. The total time commitment for this course is 7.65 hours.
This class is only open to UC Davis Health employees.
Before attending the in-person skills validation, participants must complete one self-paced online module. The module is to be completed no more than 30 days prior to class.

Be courteous and on time. Students are expected to attend and participate in the entire course. Participants will not be allowed to attend the session if they are more than 5 minutes late. Late participants and those without all prerequisites completed will not be allowed to attend the class and will not receive credit. They will need to register for an alternate available session as available.
Please dress in hospital scrubs and wear your badge as participants will work on skills and hands-on activities.

Attendees will not receive C.E. credit if they are more than 20 minutes late; no partial credit can be awarded.
