On September 19, 2024, the Cambridge University Press published a feature on the innovative "Join the Team" clinical research workforce development model, spearheaded by the Clinical Trials Office (CTO) at the Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC). The article appears in the prestigious Journal of Clinical and Translational Science and highlights the CTO's contributions to advancing clinical research workforce development.
On March 6, 2024, KCRA interviewed Kate Marusina, director of the UC Davis Clinical Trials Office. The discussion centered around the clinical research coordinator profession and the Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) Foundations program. Additionally, two program graduates who are currently employed in the field were featured in the interview.
The CTSC has teamed up with the Greater Sacramento Urban League to help boost employment in the fast growing field of clinical research staffing. The city of Sacramento recently awarded the CTSC a grant to expand UC Davis’ workforce development program called Join the Team, which seeks to increase the number of CRCs and diversify the clinical research workforce.
The CTSC Clinical Trials Office was presented with a Site Tank award from the Society for Clinical Research Sites in recognition of their Clinical Research Coordinator Foundations Training Program. The program was created to address the persistent shortage of staff to support clinical trials, increase diversity of the clinical research workforce and provide a re-training STEM opportunity to under-resourced communities.
