The following are resources and services from UC Davis Health, local community-based organizations, chambers of commerce, and other groups for multicultural, multilingual, and underserved communities.

This page also includes information on how to help Afghan refugees, the rise of xenophobia and racism towards the Asian-American community, and helpful resources on addressing it.

Support for Immigrant and Refugee Communities

World Relief Sacramento (Vanassa Hamra)
Programs support a refugee and immigrant’s journey every step of the way: from arrival, to job assistance, to English language learning to after school tutoring and mentoring.

International Rescue Committee (IRC)
Instability in Afghanistan is putting the lives of thousands of civilians at risk. The International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps people to survive, recover and rebuild their lives. Give today in support of the housing fundraiser for Afghan SIV evacuees across Northern California and visit the Amazon wish list to support incoming Afghan evacuees.

Opening Doors
Open Doors aims to empower refugees, immigrants, human trafficking survivors, and underserved Sacramento area residents to achieve self-sufficiency by accessing opportunities to mainstream economic and social systems.

Opening Doors has compiled a number of local resources as part of their COVID-19 Response. This includes their COVID-19 Local Relief Fund and resources for families such as food distribution at schools, filing for unemployment, information for immigrant and undocumented communities and resources for learning at home.

Multilingual Guidance

UC Davis Health Center for Reducing Health Disparities
The Center for Reducing Health Disparities site provides sources of information about coronavirus at the local, state, national and international levels, with relevant resources for communities in California at the local and state level. Resources available in English and Spanish.

Shifa Community Clinic
Shifa Community Clinic is a free student-run clinic affiliated with UC Davis that strives to understand, serve, and promote the health and wellness needs of a multilingual, ethnically diverse community. Adjacent to a mosque in downtown Sacramento, the clinic primarily serves patients from the South Asian and Muslim communities. It provides interpretive services and hosts specialty clinics such as dermatology, cardiology and women’s health. The clinic has compiled COVID-19 medical information and instructions for the Muslim-American community as well as other communities. Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum
The Asian and Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) has been compiling multilingual resources on coronavirus and COVID-19 in their community library hosted via Google docs: Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander In-Language Resources for Coronavirus

Advancing Justice (AAJC) advocates on behalf of the Asian American community. Their mission is to advance the civil and human rights for Asian Americans and to build and promote a fair and equitable society for all through education, litigation, and public policy advocacy. More about AAJC

Indigenous Communities

Indigenous communities have been sending social media call outs for song and prayers especially on response to the impacts of COVID -19 on our Navajo (Dine) relatives on the Arizona reservation lands. Chief Caleen Sisk of the California Winnemem Wintu Tribe had set this prayer intention out for this past weekend as a concrete example among many.

Rapid Response Business Triage Hotline

The Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce and Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce have partnered to provide a free business support hotline for the small business community. The hotline team answers general business questions, human resources and legal issues, and navigates borrowers through a variety of financing tools including the SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program and Paycheck Protection Program. Information and assistance is available in English, Spanish, Mandarin and Vietnamese languages. Learn more
