Campus-wide moment of reflection and healing circle this week

On behalf of the Offices for Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Student and Resident Diversity, and Medical Education

At a time that is intended to be about renewal and growth, we find ourselves managing the impact of several tragic events. We grieve and come together in solidarity to support each other and our communities during these challenging times.

Campus-Wide Moment of Reflection
Please join us for a Campus-Wide Moment of Reflection at 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1. We encourage everyone to participate in this campus-wide moment of reflection wherever you may be, marked with one-minute silence at 12:10 p.m. If you cannot join, you are welcome to pause and participate in the one-minute of silence during the day. There will be in-person gatherings at each campus.

At UC Davis Health, the Office for Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, the Office for Medical Education, and the Office of Student and Resident Diversity will host an in-person gathering at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing in Room 1000 at Noon on Wednesday, Feb. 1. All are welcome to attend.

At UC Davis, Renetta Tull, UC Davis Vice Chancellor of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Pablo Reguerín, UC Davis Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, will host an in-person gathering at the Memorial Union South Patio at Noon on Wednesday, Feb. 1. All are welcome to attend.

In-Person Healing Circle
Additionally, Hendry Ton, M.D., M.S. will lead an in-person healing circle at UC Davis Health, from Noon to 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 2, to allow time and a safe space for processing. We ask that registered participants arrive by no later than 12:10 p.m. and remain present for the entire group processing session. This commitment aims to protect the circle discussion's safety and integrity.

Virtual Healing Circle
Our sessions serve as an intentional space where we bear witness to each other's humanity. We invite you to this connective space for people to offer compassion, experience unity and sustain a practice of transformation. A virtual healing circle will be offered at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7. Click here to register.
