First cohort of geriatric resource nurses complete training

(SACRAMENTO)

On Friday, July 9, ten nurses from Davis 14 celebrated the completion of the geriatric resource nurse (GRN) program. The GRN role was created as part of our journey to become a Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) hospital.  A GRN receives training in geriatric syndromes and evidenced-based practices to provide person-centered care to improve patient outcomes. The GRN program is 12 weeks and includes 15 modules on geriatric topics, 8 hours of didactic training and 12 hours of clinical.

Davis 14 nurse Dinh Ta said, "Enrolling into the Geriatric Resource Nurse program has broadened my knowledge to not only care for my older adult patients, but also allowed me to connect the bridge of communication between the patients and healthcare staff to provide better care.”

Congratulations to the ten Davis 14 nurses who completed the program!
