Folsom Medical Care Clinic celebrates milestone with close-in ceremony and sign unveiling

(SACRAMENTO)

UC Davis Health celebrated a turning point on Sept. 13 in constructing the Folsom Medical Care Clinic with a close-in ceremony and sign unveiling. This marked the completion of the building’s weather barrier and exterior skin – just in time for Sacramento’s rainy season.

“This state-of-the-art building is a beacon right off Highway 50,” said Ryan Ainsworth, Project Executive at contractor Rudolph & Sletten. “As of today, everybody will know whose building this is.”

The three-story, 114,000-square-foot care clinic is the first of several projects planned for the 34-acre Folsom Center for Health site. In addition to consolidating three existing leased Folsom clinics, the care clinic will house UC Davis Health’s only extension of radiology and infusion services, aside from the Placer Center for Health in Rocklin.

“Looking at the building now, I am just floored and amazed,” said Dr. Allen Hall, M.D., Medical Director of the UC Davis Health Community Physicians Group. “Bringing this building online allows UC Davis to serve the Folsom community in the best capacity we can so patients in this community can be spared from driving to the main hospital to get these necessary services.”

Members of the UC Davis Health Facilities Planning and Development division, contractor Rudolph and Sletten, designers LPAS Architecture and Design and Boulder Associates, and the construction management team Jacobs were in attendance.

The ceremony was followed by group site tours, during which attendees donned construction vests and hard hats to explore the building's interior. The Folsom team utilized VR technology to help tour-goers envision the completed space in real-time.

Looking ahead to the next milestone, construction will shift focus to the interior of the building, including the installation of drywall, paint, and medical equipment. The Folsom Medical Care Clinic is scheduled to open fall 2025.
