(SACRAMENTO)

UC Davis Medical Center’s Chief Medical Officer, Joseph Galante, M.D., has been invited to serve on the National Center for Disaster Medicine and Public Health’s Council of Chief Medical Officers.

Joseph Galante, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, Hospital Clinical Care Services

This prestigious council is part of the National Disaster Medical System Pilot Program—a collaboration led by multiple federal agencies, including the Departments of Defense, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Transportation, and Veterans Affairs, which will lead the effort to assess and make recommendations for strengthening the nation’s combined military and civilian health systems readiness.

The NDMS Pilot Program is dedicated to improving the interoperability, capacity, and capabilities of national health systems in response to a large-scale conflict. The council will focus on understanding the capacity of civilian hospitals and identifying ways they can expand services to address surges during times of crisis.

“Dr. Galante’s appointment to this council speaks to his expertise and the respect he has earned on a national level,” said Dr. Bruce Hall, Chief Clinical Officer at UC Davis Health. “His involvement will help UC Davis Health contribute to a nationwide effort to enhance disaster preparedness, and we are proud to support him in this critical work.”

We congratulate Dr. Galante on this significant appointment and look forward to his contributions to this essential national initiative.
