Update: Global computer outage affects some computers at UC Davis Health

Here’s what you need to know:

• A worldwide computer outage has impacted some computers at UC Davis Health. 
• IT teams have been working tirelessly overnight to address the issue.
• Only about 10% of computers were impacted, and most computers in patient care areas have been fixed.
• Impacted computers cannot start and display the blue screen of death.
• Many floors in the hospital have been restored to normal. 
• IT professionals are at clinics working on the issue. 
• Remote workers are likely to be impacted most and the most challenging to solve, as an IT technician must manually input information into the computer to fix it.
• Care delivery continues, mostly as usual. 

Here’s what you need to do if the blue screen of death impacts you:

• Try to reboot the machine a few times.
• If reboot attempts do not work, IT will need someone to apply the fix to the machine manually.
• To submit a ticket for an impacted computer, visit https://ucdh.service-now.com/itss and click Get Help.
• You may call if urgent, but hold times will likely be long: IT Help Desk 1-916-734-4357.
