As part of the UCOP grant funding to address antisemitism, Islamophobia, and bias on our campuses, UC Davis is hosting workshops to promote community well-being. These trauma-informed sessions aim to empower faculty and staff with skills to address challenges collectively, fostering a safe and inclusive campus environment. The first workshop of 2025 will be a Sound Bath led by Dr. Shyma El Syed.

Trauma lives not just in the mind but in the body, which can disrupt the body’s natural ability to process stress and regulate emotions. This trauma-informed workshop draws on the healing practices of mindfulness and sound therapy to help release stored tension and restore balance. Through guided meditation and a resonant sound bath, participants create space for the body to reconnect with its innate ability to heal, fostering a sense of safety, release, and renewal.

Learning Objectives

This workshop is designed to help you:

  1. Explain the benefits of utilizing non-verbal techniques to help access stored trauma in the body.
  2. Utilize breath work, meditation, and sound to support trauma healing.

Please join us in creating a resilient community through shared understanding and support.
