The Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Program has successfully completed the recertification process with The Joint Commission.

The Joint Commission has a robust and comprehensive review process of all VAD programs nationwide for patient safety and healthcare quality.

“Earning the VAD program recertification not only demonstrates our commitment to highest-quality patient care, but it also is a testament of UC Davis Health’s role in providing unparalleled patient care by using cutting-edge medical devices and technology,” said Lin-Chiang Philip Chou, a physician and assistant professor of surgery in the department of surgery.

The certification cycle is effective as of Sept. 18, 2024, and can remain valid for up to two years.

Achieving recertification confirms UC Davis Health provides the critical elementals of care for long-term success and improving patient outcomes.

“Having a successful VAD program provides much-needed care in improving quality of life for patients with end-stage heart failure in the greater Sacramento area and California’s Central Valley,” Chou added.
