Executive Director, Ambulatory Operations and Population Health

BJ Lagunday

BJ Lagunday, M.H.S., is the executive director of ambulatory operations and population health at UC Davis Health. She is an accomplished health care executive with over 29 years of experience in the industry and a proven track record of driving organizational and operational goals, building diverse teams and implementing innovative approaches to operational efficiencies.  

At UC Davis Health, Lagunday oversees the operations of 14 ambulatory clinics that serve 140,000 primary care lives. She is also responsible for operations and joint oversight of the organization’s Care at Home program.  

Lagunday’s accomplishments include the design and development of a centralized primary care nursing triage model, a central access unit for referrals, and a Population Health team for outpatient care. She has implemented a new physician compensation model; Express Care, an on-demand virtual urgent care product; and collaborative effort on a post-discharge clinic to improve readmission rates and care for discharged patients. Lagunday’s centralized quality improvement team has closed over 27,000 care gaps annually and achieved top-tier national quality benchmarks. 

Lagunday strives for a collaborative leadership style by building strong relationships with colleagues and community members. She is recognized as a strategic partner, advisor and confidant, with proven ability to mentor and develop leaders. 

Lagunday holds a Master’s of Public Administration in Health Services from the University of San Francisco and a B.A. in Liberal Studies from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling abroad and volunteering at the River City Food Bank.
