    Principal Investigator

    Orin Bloch, M.D.

Orin Bloch, MD, is the Director of Neurosurgical Oncology at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine. His laboratory studies mechanisms of immune resistance in patients with cancer to identify new targets to enhance the immune response to tumors. Additionally, Bloch’s Brain Tumor Immunotherapy Laboratory provides immune monitoring and biomarker development for pre-clinical and clinical trials of immunotherapy for glioblastoma, the most common and malignant type of brain tumor. Funded continuously by the NIH since 2013, the lab has produced numerous trainees now in practice around the United States.

  • Research Goals

The Brain Tumor Immunotherapy Laboratory seeks to develop novel immunotherapies for primary brain tumors and metastases to the central nervous system.

  • Current Projects

    • Identifying immunologic changes in patients with glioblastoma and other central nervous system (CNS) tumors
    • Discovering mechanisms of PD-L1-mediated immunosuppression in GBM
    • Translating novel immune-activating therapies for GBM to the clinic
