    Principal Investigator

    Stephano Chang, M.D.

Stephano Chang, M.D., is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon-scientist specializing in advanced surgical neuromodulation techniques to help restore function and quality of life in patients with complex neurological conditions. His clinical interests encompass the treatment of peripheral nerve disorders, chronic refractory pain, movement disorders, and epilepsy.

  • Research Goals

The Chang Lab aims to restore function and alleviate pain after neural injury through innovative approaches in neuromodulation and neural regeneration. By leveraging large animal models, advanced imaging, and bioelectronic interfaces, the teams seeks to develop precision therapies that accelerate axonal repair, identify key biomarkers, and improve outcomes in patients with nerve injuries and refractory pain syndromes.

  • Current Projects

    • Closed-loop device for nerve regeneration
    • Advanced imaging biomarkers for peripheral nerve injury
    • Neuromodulation for chronic refractory pain
