My goal is to help my patients make decisions during the hard times of their lives, so they will live a more meaningful and productive life in harmony with their family and society.
Dr. Aboud is a Neuro-Oncologist treating patients with a variaty of primary brain tumors such as Glioblastoma, Oligodendroglioma, Low grade gliomas. Dr. Aboud received extensive training at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Johns Hopkins in managing patients with brain tumors as well as designing clinical trials to explore new therapies.
Along with his UC Davis colleagues; Dr. Aboud established a multidisciplinary adult brain tumor program at the University of California Davis. This program focuses on developing novel clinical trials for patients with brain tumors and provides best available treatment.
Dr. Aboud's research focuses on designing and launching clinical trials for glioblastoma and other brain tumors as an area of unmet need. Dr. Aboud is involved in collaborative trials with national colleagues studying potential new therapies for patients with brain tumors. Dr. Aboud's interests include studies focusing on the safety of oral anti-cogulation therapies for brain tumor patients with blood clots.
Dr. Aboud believes strongly in the mission of teaching and the promotion of evidence-based medicine in neuro-oncology in an academic setting, achieving higher results of teaching requires fostering the skills, attitudes and behavior of the students. That will arm future healthcare providers with the tools to ask the "right" clinical questions, look for evidence and search for answers, and critically appraise the evidence. Dr. Aboud's strength comes from two important components in teaching. The first is having passion for the material that he teaches. The second, which is even more important, is that he really cares about his students in all fields of study.
Dr. Aboud is strongly involved in community outreach to raise awareness of brain tumor care, and bring best treatment available to the community.
