Philosophy of Care

I believe that the transitional phase is crucial, particularly, as adolescents with epilepsy often face different treatment and care needs than children or adults. I understand that parting ways with a care provider who has been part of "the extended family" for a patient is daunting and an emotional process. My main goal is to work as a team with parents, caregivers and my patients to provide a seamless transition reducing anxiety and improve treatment outcomes! 

Clinical Interests

Dr. Hussain is a transitional epileptologist that focuses on caring for patients with epilepsy aged 10 and above into adulthood, with a unique focus on adolescents with epilepsy. Her expertise in bridging the gap between pediatric and adult epilepsy care is particularly valuable for young patients who may find the transition to adult providers challenging. 

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Hussain enjoys teaching and working with fellows and residents. Her research interest includes quality improvement projects geared towards improving EEG technician competency and reivew skills.
