The Center for Nursing Science provides guidance and resources to support nurses and interprofessional teams in securing funding for research, evidence-based practice, operations and professional development. We help to identify funding sources that align with your goals and experience levels. Our team can assist in matching your project idea with the most appropriate funding pathway. Examples include:
- Internal funding for pilot studies and EBP projects
- External grants from federal agencies and foundations
- Professional organization funding (e.g., specialty nursing groups)

Pediatric Nursing Grant
Explore this grant (Employee Access Only)The Pediatric Nursing Innovation and Excellence Fund was established in 2025 through the Marilyn Ratkay Endowment to provide support for research, evidence-based practice, and/or professional development of pediatric nurses providing care to children and youth at UC Davis Health.
Grants must have a primary focus on the children and families served by the UC Davis Children’s Hospital or the nurses working in the UC Davis Children’s Hospital. Funding is offered in the fall annually and requests cannot exceed $5,000.

Children’s Miracle Network
Explore this grantChildren’s Miracle Network grants are available for UC Davis Health nurses, staff and faculty. Grants must have a primary focus on directly improving the health and welfare of children, particularly those served by the UC Davis Children’s Hospital. This mechanism supports both research and clinical services grants. Grants are two years in duration and requested funds cannot exceed $100,000.
