When my parents and I moved to Folsom in 1996, they chose UC Davis Health for our family’s care. We’ve always received high-quality care from providers who take the time to listen, answer all of our questions, and ensure we have the best outcomes.

When I became an adult and got my own insurance, I knew I didn’t want to go anywhere besides UC Davis Health for my care. This meant more to me now than ever, because in January I found out my husband and I were expecting. During my pregnancy, we had a lot of prenatal care visits, which was very reassuring. As first-time parents, my care team constantly took the time to inform my husband and I what each visit was about and why we were doing certain tests.

When it was time for me to be induced, the labor and delivery team made us feel so cared for and comfortable. I constantly had nurses and OB/GYNs checking in on me and including us in the process. During my delivery, there were so many people in the room to ensure everything went smoothly which meant all my husband had to do was focus on making sure I was doing OK. Everyone from the residents to the volunteer doulas to the pediatric nurses made our experience spectacular.

“It was very meaningful to have all of my care team members encourage me that I was doing a great job. I felt incredibly supported by every single person in the room. Even my husband commented on how all of the nurses and providers were basically my cheerleaders during my delivery.”Sarah
Chase Barr

On September 18, our son Chase was born. During my two-night stay at UC Davis Medical Center, I really enjoyed getting to know all the nurses who kept me comfortable. They were all so caring and had great personalities. Whenever I needed them, they were right there to make sure we were taken care of.

Life since Chase was born has definitely been full of ups and downs. It’s been the best to watch my husband become a father and tend to all the needs of our son while also making sure I feel supported. Watching Chase change every day is so precious. It’s true what they say – you don’t understand the love of a parent until you become one.

Looking back on all my care experiences from sports-related injuries, trips to the ER, and now giving birth, I’ve never once considered going anywhere else for my care. I’d tell anyone considering UC Davis Health that you’ll be impressed by the level of expertise and genuine care the providers, nurses and staff show. I truly believe UC Davis Health is the best you can find in the Sacramento region.
