Employees Parking as a Patient/Visitor
Parking Services created the Employee Appointment Notice system to notify enforcement operations when you are visiting as a patient and not for work.
UC Davis Health greatly values its employees and their families who park as patients. Employees are welcomed and encouraged to park in patient parking areas while utilizing medical services or visiting loved ones (note: hourly parking charges apply as posted, even if you have an employee parking permit). However, per policy, employees parked in designated patient parking areas for work are subject to citation.
To prevent citations, employees need to know that an active Employee Appointment Notice is required at all times while parked in patient areas. This includes visiting to receive services personally, transporting a dependent, or when allowing a patient to use their car.
There are two ways acquire an Employee Appointment Notice:
- Automatic: If you are an employee with a monthly parking permit and you are the one seeking medical services, then Parking’s Employee Appointment Notice system will attempt to find your Parking account and designate your vehicle as visiting for medical purposes. This occurs automatically, and confidentially, when you check-in for your appointment. You do not need to do anything*.
- Manual: If you do not meet the criteria for an automatic notice, then you must manually acquire a Medical Appointment Notice. See "Manual Process" below for instructions.
Manual Process:
Follow the instructions below to obtain an Employee Appointment Notice, at no cost:

Employee Appointment Notices are valid 2.5 hours, starting 30 minutes before your appointment scheduled start time. Employees are eligible for one manually purchased Medical Appointment Notice per 30 days. If you have additional needs or questions, you can always call or email Parking Services to make arrangements.
* Matches are subject to occasional error because Parking does not have access to your MRN or any medical information. Any citations issued in error will be dismissed on appeal.
