We invite all fourth-year year visiting medical students who are dedicated to pursuing a career in Pediatrics to apply to our program. We strongly encourage medical students interested in working in communities negatively affected by health care disparities to apply.

We offer one award per academic year. The recipient will be reimbursed for up to $5,000 for costs related to travel, housing, food, and the application process fee.

This award cannot be combined with other travel awards or Inclusive Excellence in medicine scholarships.

Eligibility

  • Full-time, fourth-year medical students in good standing at LCME accredited U.S. medical schools.
  • Students remain registered at their own schools while participating in the four-week elective at UC Davis.
  • Student must have successfully completed their core clerkships in pediatrics, internal medicine, surgery, psychiatry and OB/GYN.
  • Student must have been selected for a visiting rotation with Pediatrics at UC Davis.

Medical students interested in applying for the scholarship need to provide the following:

  1. Personal statement (max 500 words) that includes:
    • Your interests working with communities that have been negatively affected by health care disparities.
    • Your interest in our Pediatrics Residency Program and what aspects of our program could help you achieve your professional goals of helping patients overcome barriers to health care.
  2. (1) Letter of Recommendation from a faculty member who can comment on your efforts in leadership and community advocacy
