UC Davis Pediatric Hematology-Oncology providers diagnose and treat a wide range of cancer and blood disorders. Our objectives are to ensure our pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients have access to the best care and leading-edge research close to home, and to improve outcomes for patients by participating in the development of better treatments.
Patients coming to UC Davis for treatment have access to clinical trials of new therapies rarely offered at community hospitals, a full complement of supportive programs while in treatment, and the region’s only clinic for managing the long-term effects of treatment on survivors of childhood cancers.
Our pediatric hematology-oncology team works hard to improve outcomes for patients with pediatric, adolescent and young adult cancers through ensuring access to clinical trials, developing research to explore new possibilities for diagnosis and therapy, improving outcomes and collaborating with others to make sure novel treatment options are available to our patients close to home.
Our pediatric hematology-oncology faculty help develop the next generation of care providers through daily teaching to our pediatric residents and medical students, and by providing lectures to nurses, social workers, physicians, and members of our community.
At UC Davis, your child’s care will be coordinated by one physician in partnership with a multidisciplinary team of specialists with broad experience treating a wide range of cancers and blood disorders.
We offer several multidisciplinary clinics where patients can see a range of experts during the same clinic visit, as well as the region’s only clinic for managing the long-term effects of treatment on survivors of childhood cancers. Additional resources for patients and their families include case management, social support services, child life and art therapy services, and temporary housing during extended hospital stays.
Pediatric blood specialists provide expert care for children with clotting and bleeding disorders. The Pediatric Comprehensive Hemoglobinopathy Clinic is a State of California center-designated program and provides expertise for children with red blood cell disorders. Children with blood clotting disorders receive evaluation and comprehensive care in the state center-designated UC Davis Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center.
