Philosophy of Care
My goal is to provide exemplary patient care while fully involving patients and their families in the process. Pediatrics requires collaboration with the family, and that is one of the aspects of my job that I most enjoy and value. I enjoy patient education and really want my patients to feel like a partner in their care or that of their child. When I'm not in the hospital I enjoy reading, gardening, and spending time with my husband, our two kids, and our dog!
Clinical Interests
Dr. Toney is a board certified Pediatric Hospitalist caring for children who are hospitalized at UC Davis Children's Hospital.
Research/Academic Interests
Dr. Toney's academic interest is in medical education, and she has held various educational positions in the School of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics. She was previously the Clerkship Director for the medical students' third-year Pediatrics Clerkship. She currently develops and delivers much of the Pediatrics curriculum in the medical school, and she is the Associate Program Director for the relatively new Pediatric Hospital Medicine fellowship.
