Pediatric medicine exemplifies the physician I aspire to be, blessing me with the opportunity to pursue my passion as a health provider, educator, and mentor. It allows me to work with patients and their families where I can help guide them through all stages of growing up, from the challenges of newly found parenthood to educating young individuals on how to take responsibility of their health as they transition to adulthood.
I am passionate about providing medical care for all of my patients and parents so that they can feel truly comforted and supported by a physician who is willing to listen to all of their concerns and help address their needs. I strongly believe in promoting overall wellness through patient-centered health care and incorporating shared decision making.
I am forever grateful for the role models and mentors in my life who molded me into the person I am today, and I hope to have the same impact upon future generations as a dedicated and proud pediatrician.
Dr. Ratanasen is a general pediatrician involved in many aspects of healthcare at UCD. He works at a couple clinics to provide routine pediatric care, such as routine check-ups, sports physicals, immunizations, and follow-ups. He currently does not have his own faculty practice for general pediatrics at the UCD Pediatric Glassrock clinic but sees patients in urgent care and resident continuity clinic. Dr. Ratanasen also works in the GI clinic where he participates in their PEN (Pediatric Enteral Nutrition) clinic and sees medically complex children in conjunction with registered dietitians and GI nurses. Lastly, he also spends time in the hospital in the newborn nursery to provide routine newborn care and to help new parents with any questions they may have.
Dr. Ratanasen enjoys spending time teaching pediatric residents in various settings, whether that be in the hospital in the newborn nursery or in our clinics at the Pediatric Glassrock Clinic or Sacramento County Health Center. He is also very passionate about promoting wellbeing and resiliency for all of his patients, families, students, residents, and co-workers.
