Caroline Giroux, M.D.
Dr. Giroux is dedicated to promoting recovery and empowerment of trauma survivors, including refugees. She helps develop therapeutic approaches incorporating storytelling and resilience-building techniques. She educates patients, residents, and medical students about resources to break the cycle of abuse and neglect.
Ladson Hinton, M.D.
Dr. Hinton is a clinician-scientist with formal research training in medical anthropology and health services. His research includes geriatric mental health and family caregiving, with a major focus on Alzheimer’s and related dementias. Dr. Hinton has worked with ethnically and racially diverse populations including Vietnam, Thailand, and China.
Ruth S. Shim, M.D., M.P.H.
Dr. Shim is Professor of Clinical Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and an Associate Dean of Diverse and Inclusive Education at UC Davis. Dr. Shim’s research focuses on mental health disparities and inequities, with an emphasis on the social determinants of mental health.
