Andrea Bunker, M.D.Andrea Bunker, M.D.

Andrea grew up in southern Ontario, Canada. She completed her undergraduate degree in nutrition and nutraceutical sciences at the University of Guelph. After attending medical school at the University of Ottawa, she went on to complete her psychiatry training at the University of Toronto. Andrea is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada. She has presented in the areas of emergency psychiatry, late-onset schizophrenia, paraphilic disorders, and malingering of psychiatric symptoms. Andrea’s current research is looking at serious staff assaults on forensic inpatient units with the aim to identify commonalities to help predict and decrease such assaults. Andrea’s areas of interest include risk and threat assessments, the assessment of malingering, and the assessment of malpractice cases. She is also interested in understanding the international differences in forensic psychiatry systems. Clinically, Andrea enjoys working in psychiatric emergency departments and on acute care units.

Scott Kirkorsky, M.D.Scott Kirkorsky, M.D.

Scott grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arizona in Tucson and returned there for medical school where he graduated with research distinction. He completed his residency in Adult Psychiatry at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. During residency training, he was actively involved in teaching junior residents and medical students. He also participated in quality improvement projects to improve overnight communication between on-call physicians and nursing staff and developed materials to educate members of the Department of Psychiatry on the role of Arizona’s Controlled Substance Prescription Monitoring Program, to promote safer prescribing. He participated in research on the evolution of Arizona’s Guilty Except Insane statute, and has presented on this topic. He has also participated in research on Arizona’s jail-based restoration to competency programs. He is a member of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law and sits on the newly formed Government Affairs Committee.

Lauren Marasa, M.D.Lauren Marasa, M.D.

Lauren grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. She received a full academic scholarship to the University of Alabama where she graduated magna cum laude from the Honors College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Afterwards, she completed training as an Emergency Medical Technician where she was elected class president. She then earned her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina where she graduated cum laude. After obtaining her medical degree, Lauren then completed two years of residency in neurological surgery at the University of Kentucky prior to starting her training in psychiatry. While at the University of Kentucky, Lauren was named the Outstanding First Year and Outstanding Second Year Psychiatry Resident. She was named Resident Of The Month among all residents and fellows at the medical center during her second year. She received the Tagalie Hiester Scholarship Award for two consecutive years in addition the W.R. Martin Research Award for her academic accomplishments . Lauren also served as the Chief Resident of Psychiatry during her fourth year. Upon graduation, Lauren was awarded the Arnold Ludwig Award for Outstanding Resident Scholar. Lauren has authored and presented on a variety of forensic psychiatry topics.
