Former Forensic Psychiatry Fellows

Since the inception of the UC Davis Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship in 1998, the program has trained 53 psychiatrists. All former fellows who have taken the ABPN exams in forensic psychiatry have passed. Many have held elected officer and counselor positions for the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, have joined forensic psychiatry divisions at major universities, and have prominent positions for the California Department of State Hospitals and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Two former fellows are now forensic psychiatry fellowship training directors at major universities, and three former fellows are currently part of the UC Davis Division of Psychiatry and the Law as faculty forensic psychiatrists.

The success of the fellowship program has contributed to its reputation as one of the best forensic psychiatry fellowship training programs in the country. Former forensic psychiatry fellows have come to the program from premier residency programs throughout the United States.

A primary focus of the program as designed by Dr. Scott is for fellows to leave with expertise and confidence as practicing forensic psychiatrists with the ability to educate others in the mental health care field about forensic psychiatry. Two graduates have been elected as president of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law and many have served as chairs of various AAPL committees.
