In March 2024, the University of California, Office of the President (UCOP) issued an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Policy. IPM is a sustainable, science-based approach to controlling pests by combining biological, cultural, physical, and chemical tools to minimize risks to people and the environment, focusing on long-term prevention through monitoring and using the least-toxic options first, only resorting to pesticides when necessary. As mandated by this policy, UC Davis Health has formed an IPM Committee. This committee meets monthly and will oversee UC Davis Health use of pesticides, including review and approval.
