Research in Dr. Nieves-Cintron lab aims to elucidate mechanisms regulating vascular function in health and disease. She studies vascular smooth muscle ion channels, emphasizing ionic control of intracellular calcium and smooth muscle contractility, for their responses to health-relevant conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and environmental pollutants.
