Philosophy of Care
I believe in delivering quality health care with empathy and compassion. I'm a Board Certified General, Vascular and Cardiac Surgeon and I specialize in diseases of the aorta. Within Vascular and Cardiac Surgery I've had specialty training in complex aortic reconstructions of the whole aorta, including the chest and abdomen. When appropriate, I also perform endovascular operations, or minimally invasive operations of the aorta. These techniques offer patients an alternate way, or sometimes the only way, of dealing with their aortic problems. These techniques will give them a chance of survival and allow them faster recovery with less surgical trauma to their bodies.
Clinical Interests
Dr. Rodriguez is the Director of the Aortic Center here at UC Davis. He is board certified in General, Vascular and Cardiothoracic Surgery. His practice encompasses a wide variety of aortic problems. With his training, in both Vascular and Cardiothoracic Surgery, he brings a unique set of skills in dealing with aortic reconstructions from the root of the aorta to the aortic bifurcation, both open aortic as well as endovascular techniques. He also has an interest in structural heart disease, as well as heart failure surgery and heart transplantation.
Research/Academic Interests
Dr. Rodriguez's main interest is in teaching. He loves being in the operating room teaching residents and fellows. He also focuses on improving, or inventing, new surgical techniques of aortic surgery to improve outcomes in such high risk and complex operations.
