Your child will receive pediatric endocrine care from a nationally ranked specialty group with world-renowned endocrinology doctors who are supported by a care team of experienced nurses, dietitians, social workers and medical assistants — a team that functions together to provide expert services to our culturally-rich patient population.
Dr. Glaser's care philosophy is that healthcare should be a partnership between children/families and physicians. Medical care is not "one size fits all" and treatments that are a good choice for one person may not work as well for someone else. Families need to understand the benefits and risks of different clinical care options and make informed choices. It is the job of the physician to help families navigate these decisions by providing information in a clear and comprehensive way and serving as a resource to talk through these decisions.

Our registered nurses (RN) and certified diabetes educators (CDE) provide education to patients and their families, administer injections, assist with blood glucose management and refills, provide training on various diabetes technologies (such as insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors, smart insulin pens) and conduct diabetes education classes and support groups.
As a pediatric diabetes nurse educator, Dannika Schauer has many roles in the hospital, including teaching newly diagnosed pediatric patients and their families about diabetes management, educating hospitalized pediatric patients with known diabetes to help prevent future hospitalizations, leading a team of pediatric diabetes nurse champions, teaching pediatric diabetes classes for nursing staff, collaborating with nursing, physicians and dietitians to improve hospital workflows, policies, orders and education materials for patients.
Our registered dietitians work closely with patients and their families to provide nutrition education and support. They also conduct various educational classes.
Our patient navigator downloads diabetes devices such as glucometers, continuous glucose monitors, and insulin pumps and assists patients in downloading diabetes devices from home. She also completes Diabetes Medical Management Plans (DMMP) and other school forms for patients, and performs fundus exams.
Social workers conduct assessment of family and other support systems, current activities and limitations, medical history, emotional health, mental health or substance abuse concerns, physical abilities, preference in treatment modality, education and work history. They provide financial and insurance information, and assist with legal documentation such as FMLA forms.
Our team of medical assistants take patient vitals at appointments, perform A1C exams in clinic, perform prior authorizations for medications, assist with scheduling follow-up appointments, and other duties.
