A group of outstanding UC Davis Health physicians and their loved ones gathered recently for the 2024 Diamond Doc award reception.

The Diamond Doc award is special because it’s bestowed by patients. After hospital visits or appointments, patients receive feedback surveys where they rate their doctors on factors like “concern the provider showed for your questions or worries” and their willingness to “include you in decisions about your care.”

"This is not just an acknowledgment from colleagues or leadership, it’s a recognition from the very people we are here to serve," said Chief Medical Officer for Hospital Clinical Care Service Joseph Galante in his remarks at the event. "Our patients see you, they trust you, and they appreciate the extraordinary care you provide every day."

Physicians who scored within the 90th percentile or higher receive the Diamond Doc honor. In fiscal year 2024, a total of 363 physicians received a Diamond Doc Award, with 47 physicians earning the award in all four quarters.

Winning physicians celebrated their accomplishments at a reception at the MOSAC in downtown Sacramento on October 30.

"The evening is about honoring the exceptional doctors who have gone above and beyond in their patient interactions," said Chief Medical Officer of Ambulatory Care Debbie Aizenberg. "We are profoundly grateful for the transformative impact you have on the lives of those you care for."
