Principles of Community to celebrate 35th anniversary in 2025

Big changes planned for celebration

(SACRAMENTO)

Each year, the UC Davis campuses in Davis and Sacramento come together to celebrate the UC Davis “Principles of Community”(POC) – our shared aspirations to value our individual differences and common ground, as we work to create an inclusive and intellectually vibrant community.

This year, the Principles of Community planning committee has some exciting changes in store to celebrate the event’s 35th year.

The Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will honor the milestone by extending the POC celebration beyond the opening ceremony and kick-off week, celebrating POC from February through November in 2025. Groups are invited to engage in or host POC activities throughout that 10-month period.

Below is a rough timeline of the Principles of Community celebration:

February

  • Kick-off week activities open to both campuses:
    • A virtual opening ceremony followed by an in-person kick-off event in Sacramento hosted by the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
    • Weeklong programming (virtual and in person in Davis and Sacramento).

February-November

  • Activities and events occurring on both campuses.

November

  • Culminating, in-person, closing event open to both campuses, held on the Davis campus, and hosted by the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
