Chair Share Program seeks volunteers to remain available

(SACRAMENTO)

Have you seen those amazing red Adirondack-style lawn chairs sitting out on Vanderhoof Commons? Did you know they're part of a program called Chair Share?

The Chair Share program started on the Davis Campus before the Healthy UC Davis team brought the program to Sacramento as well.

The program aims to encourage our community to spend more time outside. Studies show that even a short time outdoors can reduce stress and improve mood, among a variety of other social and well-being benefits.

This program is currently run through volunteers, but you know what it could use more of currently? Volunteers.

What’s involved in volunteering for Chair Share?

The volunteer will need to be pick up and/or return the chairs and signs to the ground floor of the Betty Irene Moore Hall. There is a wheeled cart that is used to move the chairs. The chairs are put out around 9 a.m. and taken back in after 3 p.m.

Currently, the Chair Share Program does not have enough volunteers to make the chairs available. Maybe YOU could help!

And if you see those red chairs: Have a seat and breathe.
