Comprehensive Stroke Center completes recertification with The Joint Commission

The Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC) has successfully completed the recertification process with The Joint Commission. This is the third time the program has received Comprehensive Stroke Center certification, which is the highest honor bestowed by Joint Commission.

The program oversees all stroke care at UC Davis Health and includes care teams from EMS, the Emergency Department, Neurology, Radiology, Anesthesia, and several more departments.

“It is such a privilege to lead the Stroke Program through the CSC Recertification process. This award demonstrates the expert stroke care that is provided to our patients here at UC Davis Health, with an ongoing focus on evidence-based best practices, quality improvement, and a continuous drive to excellence,” said Dawn Warner, stroke program manager.

Warner said her team achieved recertification by maintaining structured workflows, strict policies and procedures, and a continuous practice of process improvement to align the program to the complex CSC guidelines.

“The quality of care we provide stroke patients is paramount for our patients’ recovery,” said Kwan Ng, director of the Comprehensive Stroke Center. “Meeting and exceeding the standards set forth by the Joint Commission through the certification process means we are providing the highest level of stroke care for our community.”
