Construction activity: Gross Anatomy Lab demolition impact testing

(SACRAMENTO)

On Wednesday, April 9, at 11 a.m., the Central Utility Plant Expansion (CUPx) team will be conducting a short demonstration that will imitate expected impacts of the upcoming Gross Anatomy Lab demolition.

This will give an idea of what to expect during demolition so that if needed, employees can make alternative work arrangements during that time.

Please note the following details of this activity:

  • Work is estimated to begin mid-April and complete late May 2025.

  • The demolition of GAL may have impacts to the Facilities Support Services Building (FSSB) occupants which include but are not limited to, elevated noise levels, loud banging and potential vibration of the building.

  • The CUPx team will begin by decommissioning and demoing the air handler units located on the roof of the FSSB.

  • Once complete, the team will move onto the demolition of the exterior North, West and South walls of the Gross Anatomy Lab (GAL).

  • Construction fencing for this work has already been erected and the team has begun decommissioning the required utilities inside the FSSB in preparation for the demolition of the GAL.

The CUPx team would like to extend its apologies for the ongoing inconveniences the FSSB departments have faced. We have nothing but the deepest level of empathy when it comes to the disruption of your daily routines and the effects they can have on productivity. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we navigate around the FSSB and will continue to be transparent in all efforts of communication.
