Construction Update: Colonial Way and Emergency Department impacts

(SACRAMENTO)

As construction continues for the California Tower Make Ready project, below you will find impacts that will affect Colonial Way, the ED parking lot and employee entrance, as well as changes to the crosswalk between the ED and the Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Colonial Way Impacts

  • Starting Nov. 19, work will begin to convert Colonial Way from a two-way street into a one-way street.
  • Colonial Way will be closed for thru-traffic on Nov. 19 until work is complete, then re-open for one-way directional traffic.
  • Permanent street signs will be in place to note this change.
  • The turn-lane from Parking Structure 1 onto Colonial will remain a two-way.
  • This change shall take effect officially on 11/21/2022.

ED Employee Entrance Impacts

  • A concrete truck will parked in Lot 3 at the end of the drive lane by the ED employee entrance.
  • Intermittent traffic in the corridor while workers transport materials from the truck into the work zone through the employee entrance.
  • Work will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with wheelbarrow traffic from approximately 10 a.m. to noon.
  • Priority will be given to staff members who will still need to access the employee entrance.

Crosswalk between the ED and Comprehensive Cancer Center Impacts

  • To allow for construction work to continue, the crosswalk between the ED and Comprehensive Cancer Center has shifted by about 15 to 20 feet.
  • A temporary crosswalk is in place to re-route pedestrian traffic.
