Construction Updates: Y St., 2nd Ave. closures

More: SESP bike racks relocated, traffic circle lane closure

(SACRAMENTO)

Beginning the week of March 12, three construction-related activities will have traffic impacts. One will take place on Y Street. Another will occur on 2nd Avenue. The third will take place in the traffic circle exiting onto X Street.

Additionally, we have information on the relocation of the bike racks formerly outside of the Emergency Department.

Y Street Closure

From March 15 until March 31, westbound traffic on Y Street, between 48th and 49th streets near the Eye Center, will be closed to vehicles. Any vehicles exiting Parking Structure 2 must exit right to access 49th Street.

There will be no impacts to eastbound traffic, nor to pedestrian traffic.

2nd Avenue Closure

To fix potholes, a portion of the eastbound lane, the bike lane and the sidewalk at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and 48th Street will be closed between March 13-17.

Signage and flaggers will be on scene to assist with traffic and bike flow. A temporary pedestrian pathway will be created while work is being done.

This project is weather dependent and subject to change.

Hospital Traffic Circle

Due to installation work happening in the street, it is necessary to shut down the rightmost lane of the roundabout that exits the traffic circle onto X Street. The left lane will still be accesible and vehicles will still be able to travel all the way around the entire traffic circle. Exiting on X Street is still an option as well.

This work will take place March 15-22.

Bike Rack Relocation

Due to construction fencing and scaffolding for the Surgery and Emergency Services Pavilion Emergency Entrance, the bike racks have been relocated. The new, temporary location will be in effect until June.

Any bicycles that were left on the bike rack as of March 3 were relocated with the new bike rack to the new location.
