Crisis intervention training opportunity: Virtual ‘Verbal De-Escalation’ course
(SACRAMENTO)
The Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and Workplace Violence Prevention Unit have created a virtual nonviolent crisis intervention course titled Verbal De-Escalation.
This evidence-based training provides staff with a proven framework to prevent, de-escalate, and safely respond to crisis behaviors. Participants will gain essential skills to:
- Identify and respond to various levels of crisis behavior
- Manage their own calm and consistent responses to influence positive outcomes
- Strengthen nonverbal communication strategies
- Develop limit-setting techniques to verbally de-escalate defensive behaviors
- Use a framework to rebuild relationships with individuals in distress
Who should attend?
All staff will find value in this training. From customer service positions, student facing positions, to direct patient care providers, it supports diverse roles across the campus and health settings.
