Microsoft 365 Migration: Where we're at

The Microsoft 365 (M365) Migration to improve cybersecurity and compliance is in full swing. The team has heard your feedback that having people on both sides of the fence (Campus and Health) makes things more challenging, so IT has reallocated resources to speed up the migration process to move everyone under one roof faster.

Over 11,000 people have been migrated so far, with an estimated total of 22,000 slated to be completed by the end of June.

Some key points:

• Mail sent to your old @ucdavis.edu email address will be forwarded to your new @health.ucdavis.edu email address indefinitely.
• Please don’t update your email address in the Online Directory or any other application. The only change we’re making at this time is for M365 applications (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.) Updating your email address inside applications may impact your ability to log in.
• You will be notified ahead of your day to migrate.

Get ready with a migration checklist
To help you prepare, please review the following resources:

• Customer Documentation
• Before Migration: Back up your Outlook inbox rules.
• On Migration Day: If you need help on your migration day, please join the scheduled Teams Drop-In Support Call from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Remote users: Reconnect to VPN before starting.
• Onsite users: Connect to UCDH-PROD Wi-Fi or use a wired Ethernet connection.
• After Migration: After 48 hours, you can no longer send emails from your Campus email account.

June will be a very busy month, and the M365 team recognizes there will be bumps in the road. Shortening the project timeline will help alleviate the challenges people are facing due to having users on both sides of the fence.
