Tammy Kenber assumed the role of Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for UC Davis and UC Davis Health in December 2022. Her most recent position before joining UC Davis was as the associate vice chancellor for Human Resources at the California State University, Office of the Chancellor where she served since 2019, providing leadership, support, and guidance to CSU’s twenty-three campuses. Prior to that, she served as the associate vice president and chief human resources officer at one of the CSU campuses, Sonoma State University. Additionally, she has held senior leadership positions in the state's department of developmental services and Sutter Health, as well as a decade-long career in the high-tech industry.
Kenber holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in human resources/organizational development from Drexel University, as well as numerous professional certifications, including change management, senior human resources professional, interest-based bargaining, and green-belt status in Lean Six Sigma/6S (process improvement strategy).
Kenber has served on numerous boards, including the Northern California chapter of CUPA-HR (College and University Professional Association for Human Resources) and the Cal-SHRM (California State Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management).
Kenber's priorities focus on people and enhancing the employee experience throughout each phase of employment, from candidacy to retirement. Her strong track record for working successfully across divisions and institutions to establish partnerships in addition to her extensive background in benefits, talent acquisition, classification and compensation, policy administration, data analytics, and general employment equip her to cultivate a more holistic and rewarding work environment for all employees.
