Sandya Venugopal

Sandya Venugopal, M.D. is the Associate Dean for Continuing Medical Education. In her role as Associate Dean, Venugopal oversees the design, development, delivery, evaluation and certification of continuing medical education curriculum.

Venugopal has a proven track record of being an innovative educator, having served as a Master Clinical Educator in the School of Medicine from 2012-2016, and as the co-director of the Health Professions Education program at Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions from 2016-2017. She is a successful team leader and is advancing continuing education to address pressing health issues for changes in clinical care outcomes.

Venugopal has been with UC Davis since 2006, and is also a clinical professor in the division of cardiology. She received her medical degree from the University of Kentucky, and in 2016 received her Master's degree in Health Professions Education through Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions.

Venugopal has authored numerous publications in her field of cardiology and on topics in medical education. Her passion lies in imparting optimal medical education to the adult learner, and also reshaping the role of the clinical educator. Her scholarly interests are focused on health professions educational program evaluation and curriculum development.
