Cognitive Control in Autism (CoCoA) Study
Through the CoCoA study, we hope to gain a better understanding of cognitive functioning during a particularly important time in an individual’s life – the time between adolescence and the transition to adulthood. We are interested in learning more about the brain functioning and behavior of adolescents and young adults with Autism when they think and learn.
What does participation involve?
The CoCoA Study is a longitudinal study that takes place over five (5) years. An initial cohort of participants will visit the UC Davis MIND Institute and the UC Davis Imaging Research Center (IRC) for multiple visits over a 5 year period for 2-3 hours. Additionally, 30 new participants ages 12 - 15 will be recruited in year 5 (Fall 2021) and complete a set of visits.
Eligibility
We are recruiting both boys and girls between the ages of 12-15:
1. Have a diagnosis of Autism, or
2. PDD-NOS, or
3. Are typically developing
Additional screening will take place at the first visit.
What else can I expect?
1. An image of your child’s brain
2. A brief letter that includes behavioral and related assessment results, including an IQ assessment
3. $100 gift card per visit
