    2025 Year in Review

As a top NIH-funded neurology department, we are home to internationally recognized scientists and physicians who advance what we know about the brain and our nervous system and how to keep them healthy. In 2025, our faculty led breakthrough research in areas including lifestyle-based Alzheimer's and dementia prevention, psychedelics for therapeutics, and microRNAs as contributors to degenerative and psychiatric diseases. We continue to provide nationally-ranked clinical care, with 8 centers of excellence. Our child neurology program continued its rapid growth and gained new recognitions, including the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEG) Level 4 Pediatric Epilepsy Center designation. This growth also catalyzed expansion of our lifespan neurological care in additional subspecialties; learn more in this report.

    2024 Year in Review

We expanded patient care services and access as we launched new multidisciplinary clinics and centers of excellence, welcomed nine physicians, and more than doubled our outpatient clinical space footprint with the opening of our Campus Commons location. The department once again achieved national recognition for our research program. As one of the top NIH-funded neurology departments, we are home to paradigm-shifting thought leaders. We collaborate with the world-class interdisciplinary neuroscience community across UC Davis to make the discoveries that will provide new therapies and approaches to move us ever closer to realizing our department vision of neurological health for all. To ensure this vision is fully accessible, we continue to grow our residency pipeline and fellowship programs as we prepare the next generation of neurologists to bring these new therapies to the large and diverse patient population in our community and beyond.
