    John Morrison, Ph.D.

Our Lab is interested in developing a comprehensive model of synaptic health in the cerebral cortex and how molecular and structural deviations from this profile induced by age, synaptotoxins, genetic manipulation, and/or endocrine disruption impact cognitive performance. We are particularly interested in investigating the degree to which age-related alterations in structural and molecular attributes of the synapse lead to cognitive decline and leave the brain vulnerable to Alzheimer’s Disease.

  • Our Research Goals

This lab focuses on understanding how age-related changes in brain circuitry contribute to cognitive decline and neurodegeneration, aiming to develop treatments for disorders like Alzheimer’s by studying synaptic health and molecular changes.
