Philosophy of Care

I'm an engineer at the interface of medical technology, signal processing, and neuroscience. I have a deep passion for teaching, and strive to help trainees utilize analytical and research skills to create impactful biomedical tools that help patients.

I also believe there is a strong link between the beauty of art and science, love Chinese brush painting, and have years of volunteer experience at art museums.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Audrey Fan is a Ph.D. imaging physicist and translational scientist. She develops novel magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) methods to study brain physiology in cerebrovascular disease and vascular dementia. She has translated new imaging technologies to patient studies in acute stroke, Moyamoya disease and intracranial stenosis.

Dr. Fan serves as co-director of the Imaging Core for UC Davis Health's Alzheimer’s Disease Center, a National Institutes of Health-funded Alzheimer’s research center.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Fan's research mission is to develop advanced, multi-modal imaging tools to understand the vascular and physiological bases of neurological disorders. Through new MRI and PET imaging technologies, she aims to diagnose cerebrovascular disease and dementia earlier than ever, and identify optimal therapies to improve patient quality of life.
